Most commonly occurs in males.

Symptoms can vary depending on the type of gynae cancer but may include:
Gynae cancers are staged based on the size of the tumor, depth of invasion, and spread to nearby tissues or distant organs:

Stage I:

Localized to the origin organ

Stage II:

Spread to nearby reproductive structures

Stage III:

Spread to pelvic or abdominal lymph nodes

Stage IV:

Distant metastasis to organs like the liver or lungs

  1. Smoking
  2. Workers in dye, rubber, leather industries
  3. Infection with a specific parasite


  1. Blood in urine
  2. Urgency and increased frequency to urinate
  1. Very early stage – Cancer involves very superificial layers of urinary bladder and no lymph node spread
  2. Early stage – cancer involves deeper layers with minimal or no lymph node spread
  3. Advanced stage- cancer involves all layers of urinary bladder with advanced disease in lymph nodes
  4. Very advanced stage – disease has spread to adjacent organs and other organs like liver, lung,bones
  1. Urine examination
  2. Cystoscopy and biopsy
  3. CT scan of abdomen,chest
  • Very early stages- cystoscopic removal of cancer and chemotherapy given inside urinary bladder
  • Early stage – Surgery in the form of bladder preservation or complete removal of urinary bladder along with removal of lymph nodes with an artificial creation of passage for passing urine
  • Advanced stage- give chemotherapy reduce the bulk of disease and then surgery as mentioned above
  • Very advanced stage – only chemotherapy

In some selected cases only chemo and radiation therapy can be given, without surgery and still cancer can be cured.
Surgeries are performed by using open, laparoscopy and robotic techniques
